We woke up early to take our first big adventure outside of our little village. We drove to Cahors which is about 30 minutes away. They had a French market today. It was a combination of flowers, herbs, fruits and veggies, fresh cooked meals, pastries, and assorted treasures (ceramics, baskets, bangles, etc.). After purchasing various goodies, we took a break for another chocolate croissant and some coffee/hot (white) chocolate. The croissant was cheaper at the market, but not as tasty as yesterday's. Don't worry...I'll continue to sample. :)
Then, we walked down to see the famous Cahors medieval bridge. It was remarkable to imagine how that bridge was built so long ago and still seem as sturdy today as it was hundreds of years ago. To savor the afternoon, we had lunch with a view of the bridge. Then, we began our attempt at French wine country.
You know how people say the French people are not so warm? That may be true, but there are also some wonderful French people. After one failed attempt at touring a winery where the sign indicated it was open, we found ourselves at Chateau Eugene. It was like night and day. The folks at Chateau Eugene were friendly and did a great job with their English (better than our French). We got to hear about the five generations of the Eugene family and taste some of their yummy wine. Calling all blog readers: we purchased a beautiful bottle of ratafia liqueur (the local pre-dinner drink) that we are willing to share this summer with anyone willing to visit us in Texas. It was a beautiful afternoon.
And, a beautiful sunset from our 2nd floor window. :)

Cool bridge!!
Wow! What a wonderful day you had! The weather seems to be perfect for you. Cold and rainy here in Kentucky, you're not missing anything. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's adventures. Did I mention I now have a passport? :-) Continuent à bénéficier de la France!
I think I need another trip to Europe - it's been too long. Enjoying the photos of the markets, architecture and just the general European flavor of it all.
Looks like you are staying quite busy with plenty of activities each day. Look forward to see what today held!
That bridge looks awesome.
