Images from a small town

I've had enough wine tonight, you all get a second post! :)

Mary Grace's habits are rubbing off on me. I took the first nap of the day! Congrats to me. Just in time too as this was our last full day of relaxing at the house. Tomorrow is an excursion (stay tuned for THAT blog) and we head to Toulouse on Saturday AM before our Sunday AM flight. Another Mary Grace habit--I tried to order the jambon (ham) tonight and pronounced it as I would in Spanish. I got something else instead, but it was still yummy so I didn't care.

Anyways, to appease those photo lovers below are some images from our walkabouts around Saint-Cirq-Lapopie...the town we've called home these last few days.

Here are some photos of our meals today. 1) Picnic in our garden trying to use up the last of our market delights. :)

2) An experiment in French ice cream/gelato/fruit ice? Very strong flavors of lemon and blackberry.

3. Our main course in our 3 course meal at dinner-a souffle and some sausage. Guests recognized our troubles with French and offered assistance as needed. The entire patio seemed to enjoy our attempt at asking the host for the chef's recommendation for dessert. It took three different tables to recognize and describe to our host what we were saying. I ended up w/ a strawberry parfait of sorts and MG had the walnut tart. Yummy! In addition, the French man next to us who spoke English (and helped me realize jambon was ham even though I knew that but couldn't pronounce it), kept recommending the foie gras saying it was a local specialty. Even though we know how to pronounce it AND know what is, we're not interested. However, since we now know it is a local specialty, it may appear on one of our plates before we leave. Yuck.

And, on a final note, regardless of what language we speak, this sign made sense to us. :)

Enjoyed living the day with you. Don't like the looks of that sausage. The 'do not pee' sign is cute, but do they really need those signs? Can't believe men would pee out in the open, but you are in France. Profitez de demain!

That lunch on the patio looked really good and dessert choices sounded mouth-watering too! Enjoy that French cuisine for a few more days - then you'll probably be doing extra workouts when you get home! Thanks for all the photos - I'm enjoying your trip!
